Stasia Anthony

Stasia Anthony brought her own exquisite style of entertaining and event planning to the Newport area in the late 1980s. Having directed all of the executive in-house entertaining and corporate events for Citibank in New York, Stasia returned to her native city of Newport with a strong background in designing, managing and overseeing special events, from intimate social and corporate dinner parties for 10-20 guests to weddings, gala fundraisers and corporate outings delighting 200-600.

In Rhode Island, she built a thriving catering business, Glorious Affairs, and in 2000 founded Exquisite Events, a full service event planning business that specializes in high-end weddings, corporate events, private parties and fundraisers. With over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Stasia strives to realize every client’s vision—assessing and anticipating needs (often from multiple people), taking care of and overseeing every detail—so that all events, from casual backyard barbeque’s to once-in-a-lifetime weddings reflect each client’s unique style and tastes. Guests as well as hosts take note of all the touches Stasia includes, from imaginative accents to inspired themes.

Possessing the flexibility, creativity and organizational skills necessary to respond to the unexpected and solve any problem, Stasia can sequester just the right resources to handle any crisis–and make it invisible to host and guests. Mary Weaver

With over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Mary came to Rhode Island in 1990, bringing with her extensive experience orchestrating successful celebrations, conferences, gala fundraisers and weddings. Satisfying her passion for architecture and aesthetics, she bought an 1808 single family home in Bristol and converted it into an award-winning Bed and Breakfast, the William’s Grant Inn, designing the interior and overseeing its restoration.

In addition to running her successful Bed and Breakfast, Mary has served as the Special Events Coordinator at Virginia Tech, Director of Communications at Portsmouth Abbey School, organized regattas and special events for the Museum of Yachting and managed profitable fundraisers for The Nature Conservancy. She has planned everything from award dinners to conferences to inaugurations and anniversary celebrations that spanned a month and even a year that culminated in gala events, complete with fireworks.

With such a wide-ranging background, Mary brings her cool head and expert eye to every event she plans. Whether it’s tapping into her well of creativity to realize a client’s unique vision, marshaling the energies of multiple committees and hundreds of volunteers, or responding to something gone awry with a grace under fire borne of years of hard work and dedication, Mary strives to make every event memorable, joyous and fun.

Priscilla Malone

With a formal background in fine arts and music and over ten years in the hospitality industry, Priscilla brings a unique blend of design expertise, creativity and personal attention to her work with Exquisite Events. Priscilla came to Newport from Long Island in 1990. Fulfilling a dream, she and her husband bought a 9,000 sq. ft. mansion, where she designed and created the interior and guest rooms, and established the Elm Tree Cottage Bed and Breakfast, a multi-award-winning, globally recognized inn. While serving as head breakfast chef and managing all operations of the inn, Priscilla also ran the couple’s stained glass business and established her own art painting studio.

In the past few years, she has become more and more involved with the Newport Art Museum and now combines all her talents working with Stasia Anthony overseeing events for the Museum as well as lending her expertise to Exquisite Events.

Priscilla’s success resides in her empathy, sense of responsibility and the 100% commitment she brings to everything she does. Following through on all communications with vendors, at the Museum and with guests, she makes sure no detail falls through the cracks.
